AYANOJOU ABURATSUBO / Fox LeeCountless late nights, lots of caffeine, too much paper, and one vaguely sane fangirl bring you:
This, my second KiSS doll set, is of one of my newer obsession, the utterly gorgeous and way-too-feminine Ayanojou Aburatsubo of the cute anime comedy "Mahou Tsukai Tai" ("I Wanna Use Magic", "I Wanna Be A Sorceress", or "Magic Users' Club"). I met Aya-chan early this year, and fell in love with him straight away. Not only is he very intelligent, multi-talented, /extremely/ good-looking, humble, good at using magic and the only person in the anime who can ride his broom sidesaddle, he's also very, very gay. Fangirl paydirt! *grin*
Aya-chan's story runs like this; he's in the Magic Club at high school, and so is Takeo Takakura, with whom he's completely obsessed. Takeo, however, is way too busy showing off (disastrously) for the club's other members (girls) to even take him seriously. Still, Aburatsubo appears to be making the best of it, and he certainly has some sort of a hold on 'Takeo-kun', even if it isn't the one he'd like.
His part in the actual story is fairly small, as it focuses on Takeo and his female love interest, Sae, who are both too tongue-tied and embarrassed to fess up to each other (BAH!). He gets all the best lines, though. He's largely there for comic relief, fawning on Takeo and making Sae look bad - but when he does get a serious moment, he carries it beautifully. It's not everyday you find a guy like this who disdains his own fan club (yes, the girls at school formed an Aburatsubo fan club) because he feels he doesn't deserve to be praised for things that come naturally to him. WAI! X3 <3
At any rate - I feel that Aburatsubo is a rare find, even in the world of anime, and an absolutely beautiful person all-round. I hope you enjoy this KiSS set as much as I enjoy staring at it for hours on end. And go pick up the anime - it's excellent!
